Reading With Rover

my reading friend

Mom has been so busy with Granny she hasn't had a chance to help me with my blog.  You know I need her help because my paws don't work real well on the keyboard.  We did a Reading with Rover field trip last week and I got to listen to this cute little kindergardner read one of the Frog and Toad books.  Mom told her that she was a better reader than some of the second graders she used to teach.  That made her parents happy. Another older girl read with me too.  We were back in a corner on one of Mom's quilts and it was VERY warm in Borders so I got a little tired...so did Mom.  Our teachers, Annemarie and Becky, said I was a good girl because we didn't need help from them.  I think some of my classmates had to have help.

Mom said that because it's called Reading with Rover I needed to learn how to at least look like I'm reading so we've been working on that. I showed Granny and Uncle Chuck how I do it.  Every time we practice that Monty noses his way in because he thinks he needs more attention.  Don't get it...I sleep in a crate and he gets to sleep on the bed most of the time.

We've been doing a lot of things for Granny.  Mom went up and cleaned the chicken coop.  She had to let the chickens out so I didn't get to go play with them.  We took Granny to the grocery store a couple of times...one time Mom said she bought a lot of candy.  Wow!

Remember when I told you all the dogs in my   puppy class were blond and wouldn't play with me until they had nobody else to play with?       Well...last class there was a young black lab and we had a great time running and chasing each    other.  One of the blondies joined us too.
Dad did take pictures of Monty, Casey and me on the beach but he did the same thing Mom does and did  video instead of  still.  We'll have to do it again.

Training Classes

Pup'prentice Certificate

Star Barks Class

This week there were only 2 other dogs in our class at Cascade Kennels...the young golden girl played with me!!!  I did have to do some dodging in and out to get her away from that grown-up golden.  He always goes over and drinks all the water during play time so that gave me a chance.  We only have one more Star Barks class on Friday and I bet all the other yellow colored dogs will be back so they will ignore me AGAIN.

At Starbucks

In Pup'prentice class we finished up our regular class stuff and practiced what we will do when we go to Borders Books in Redmond Town Center on Thursday night.  We will be there past my bedtime, I hope I won't fall asleep on the kids.  Mom is going to teach me how to "look" in a book so I can pretend to read with the children.  I know I'm smart but Mom said I'm not smart enough to read...wanna bet...just give me a chance.

Dad called Mom when he was walking Monty the other day to come down and meet him at Starbucks so we trundled on down.  She needs to learn about shadows when she takes pictures...especially if I'm the star.  You don't think it was Monty's turn to be the star?!  Me either.

I saved the best for last!  Saturday at Pup'prentice class we got to meet Becky's miniature horse.  She is so cool!  Although she has a heftier body she's only about as tall as a St. Bernard.  She does tricks too.  Here's  a picture that Mom just loves.  She has a little video but it keeps coming up twice when she puts it here so it  will go on Facebook maybe or Dad can figure it out when he gets home.
