Happy Leap Year

For me?
I'm going back to school on Sunday.  Mom says I need it!  I think she's the one who needs it. Actually, we both need it.  I try my hardest to be good and do all the things asked of me.  I know sit, down, wave, shake, wait, stand, and bow to the queen. A lot of the time I just watch what Monty does and copy him.  We do a really nice sit in front when we come...especially if we get treats. I even come to meals with the proper encouragement.  Gee whiz, I have gained weight...just to keep them on their toes every once in a while I skip a meal and then they get all concerned and add more tidbits to my dish.  You think I can't figure things out...hummm.  There was this big hunk of meat on the counter and I was just sure it was meant for me but I guess not since I got yelled at.  I did get some of the juice from it and that was a nice change from chicken for a couple of days.

Dad and Monty have been gone since Sunday and I sure wish they'd get home.  Every morning I look all over for them but they just aren't here.  To top it off, I don't even get to sleep on the bed like Monty does. Without Monty there's nobody to get rough with.  I did have a bath and grooming so for a few days Mom will try to keep me clean and I will try to get dirty.  Let's see who wins.  Mom is getting a bit better with the clippers but I sure wish she'd go faster because I get tired of sitting on that table. I think she probably needs some lessons although, for the first time on our walk, this lady knew I was a Porti and not a doodle or a poodle.

Corbin and me
The weather has been pretty cold so it's kind of nice to just flake out and stay warm.  It evened snowed on Sunday right after Dad left and Mom was worried because we were going to a birthday party for one of the boys across the street and she hadn't gotten the gift certificate yet.  Big deal...she has a Subaru and can go anyplace, which she did.  Corbin turned 12 on Sunday and we went over for cake with strawberries and cool whip.  That was pretty fun.  Remember, I love to go to parties. I just made myself right at home like I usually do.  The cake was really good but I didn't particularly like the strawberries.  Monty is the one who eats fruits and vegetables.

Helping Aaron
You know this is Leap Year...which I guess is kind of cool.  Even cooler is that yesterday was the 28th and I am 17 months old now.  Doesn't mean I'm mature yet, though.  Wonder if March is going to "Come in like a lion"?  It kind of sounds like it outside with fir cones hitting the roof.

This weekend we get to have Annie stay overnight all by herself without her sisters.  I hope she isn't afraid, maybe I'll have to sleep with her.  Then next week we have Granny duty.  I'm just sure Granny will want me to help fix her dinner.

           'til next time,

Look what I Did!

what I did
This morning Mom and Dad were reading the paper while Monty and I were messing around.  Mom heard this crunching noise and asked Dad what I was doing...ever observant he said I was chewing on a bone.  She who is supposed to be obeyed (sometimes) came over to check and you can see by the picture what I was up to.  I learned that Monty had been given that toy a long time ago because it was advertised for aggressive chewers...guess that's what I am!  Pretty cool. The other thing I've been doing lately is trying to avoid sleeping in my crate at night.  So far, I haven't been successful.  This is what's been happening: Mom takes us out for our "last outs" and when we come in for cookies and bed (that means crate for me) I quickly sneak by her like I'm getting a drink and take off for Dad.  I climb up in his lap but he always lets Mom take me to the crate.  Sometimes I run downstairs but she gets me. Any ideas or advice out there from you more experienced dogs?  Mom says I'm being an adolescent whatever that is.

finding Brendon
We went over to see my boys across the street and Brendon was being a bum crawling around under a blanket.  He finally stopped moving and I started working to get him out.  Had to get the blanket in my mouth to lift it up and then crawl under.  Finally he came out and played with me.  You other Porties know how we love blankets to rearrange and mess around with.

catching some zzzs
The weather's been pretty stormy and wet lately so I spend a fair amount of time getting my beauty sleep.  Some times I'm up on the bed before Mom even has a chance to make it.  Yesterday she told me I wasn't going to be so lazy so we went to the dog park for small dog play.  There's this other Monty, an old Scottish Terrier,  in the neighborhood and he was there so I was trying to figure him out...he made a BIG noise at me so I had to jump away.  Mom acted like it was a good thing which I don't understand because my Monty never makes a BIG noise at me like that and lets me do whatever I want.  Mom says that's the problem.

Mom has been busy sewing again.  She made all those doll clothes for Cathy, an apron for Grannie and hot pads for Aunt Jacqui.  She decided to try something for herself and I think it's pretty cool. She put Monty and me on her sweatshirt.

It's been a long time since I blogged...Mom says we're getting lazy!  I told her there are things we can write about like: the clam tree at the beach, my new crate, going back to school.  I'm sure she will take me on other adventures as well especially since we are going to start training again.

Still wondering about you folks from other countries.  There are a lot of you, or maybe one person many times, from Russia who checked me out.  Mom gets curious.
